Every day our people at Sinai Health are doing extraordinary things as we focus our efforts on COVID-19. This is the first edition of Captured Caring, a series that will feature submissions from our people. We hope they provide you with inspiration and encouragement as we care for patients and each other. Have your own story or photo to share? Submit it here.

Two employees in a hospital smiling make a high five gesture while another employee looks on.“Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and operationalize non-traditional spaces into COVID-19 clinical examination centres has been truly incredible! We are having fun along the way (while maintaining our physical distance) in an effort to ensure the Emergency Department and Sinai Health are prepared to care for our community. Go team! #plankingthecurve.”

A woman seated in a hospital room holds up a tablet while video conferencing with her family“In response to the implementation of the no visitor policy, Bridgepoint is leveraging technology using Zoom in order to facilitate virtual visits between patients and their caregivers. One virtual visit that took place this week was between a palliative care patient and her husband, son and daughter-in-law. During the visit, the patient provided her family with a tour of her room and she ended the conversation by singing an Irish love song to her husband. The family reported they really enjoyed it. It means so much for us to be able to see her and see how happy it makes her husband. This is just one of the ways that we are supporting our patients and caregivers during this challenging time.”

A woman wearing a protective clear plastic face shield looks at the camera smiling“Being part of the Phase 3A team has given me the opportunity to engage with various areas of the hospital and understand the needs of many departments. I am happy to be able to assist with the screening of patients, visitors, and staff, and to contribute to the safe environment Mount Sinai is dedicated to.”

“I was on a screening shift on the ground floor at Bridgepoint for four hours. I would like to share my appreciation of several colleagues who, during my shift, on their way in or out of the hospital, asked me if I needed anything (food, drinks, etc.). This is a beautiful example of our values of humanity and service in action, particularly our service to each other.”
