Thanks to you, and the many generous donors who have supported our Sinai CEO Fund, Sinai Health has been able to respond nimbly to immediate and unexpected needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Every donation, gift of PPE, meal for a front-line worker and message of support shows that our community stands united in the battle against COVID-19.

Here are just a few of the ways your support to the Sinai CEO Fund is making an impact for our patients and care teams.

Caring for our health professionals and patients

Your support has been instrumental in keeping our care teams and patients healthy and safe by:

  • Procuring personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks, sanitizer, gloves and scrubs for staff working at both hospitals
  • Ensuring optimal deployment of over 700,000 pieces of PPE generously donated by the community
  • Delivering more than 23,000 meals to front-line health workers and care professionals across Sinai Health
  • Providing machinery to disinfect rooms that have been occupied by COVID-19 patients
  • Supporting the purchase of sterilization technology for clinical equipment

Connecting isolated patients with their loved ones

Many patients have been separated from their loved ones since the COVID-19 outbreak began. Sinai CEO Fund donors are helping them combat feelings of isolation during their hospital stay by providing:

  • Access to tablets, apps and communication services to help them connect with their loved ones for comfort and support
  • Complimentary local telephone and TV services

Developing reliable immunity testing

Widespread testing is essential to our ability to return to normal daily life, helping us to identify not only who is sick and how prevalent the disease remains, but also who among us, and how many in total, have immunity.

Thanks to donor support, the Sinai CEO Fund is helping senior investigators at Sinai Health’s Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute develop a reliable antibody test capable of testing 10,000 people daily, using an approach that is not affected by the supply chain disruptions that have caused delays with current diagnostic methods. This new test may also help health authorities mitigate the health, economic and social impacts of future COVID-19 waves.

"We are truly grateful for each and every contribution we’ve received to our Sinai CEO Fund. These donations show how much our donors care about Sinai Health and the well-being and safety of our whole community."

- Dr. Gary Newton, CEO, Sinai Health
