Sinai Health is accountable to the patients we care for, as well as to the public. We measure our performance against provincial and national benchmarks to ensure our operations, services and resources are positioned to provide an exceptional standard of care.

Sinai Health’s performance data is available through Health Quality Ontario, part of Ontario Health.

Health Quality Ontario currently reports on 10 hospital care quality indicators, including hospital-associated infections, surgical site infection prevention, hand hygiene compliance among hospital health-care workers (before patient contact and after patient contact) and compliance with the surgical safety checklist.

Excellent care begins with quality, safety and accountability. The Sinai Health Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) helps us improve performance and enhance patient care by ensuring our care is:

  • Safe
  • Timely
  • Effective
  • Patient and Family-Centred

Aligned with system and provincial priorities, the Quality Improvement Plan has Board oversight and is reviewed regularly by staff across all levels of the organization and is approved by the Board of Directors. It was developed with input from many stakeholders, including patients and their families. As a result, everyone across Sinai Health is continually working together to find new and better ways to enhance care, increase satisfaction and achieve better clinical outcomes for our patients.

The Sinai Health System 2024-2025 QIP (PDF) articulates the priorities for the organization and is complemented by a detailed work plan (PDF).
