We are a clinician, employee-driven research and innovation institute committed to improving patient experience and health outcomes. Inspired by our vision of discovering and delivering life-changing care, we are driven to push the boundaries of what is possible in health care.

Science of Care is a way of thinking around research and innovation using a fundamental, compassionate care lens. We act on hunches and what we see in our everyday work to improve care, and create a resilient work environment.

About the Institute

We are the only research and innovation institute in Canada committed to improving health outcomes by focusing on fundamental care. Fundamental Care is the core of the Institute, focusing on caring practices and environments that address people's psychosocial, physical and relational needs. We bring these elements together, creating a health-care experience that is not only scientifically advanced but also deeply human.

Launched in 2022, we are located at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital. It is comprised of the Centre for Nursing Excellence and includes scientists from the former Bridgepoint Collaboratory for Research and Innovation.

The Institute empowers our clinicians and employees to grow in their careers by directly influencing what it means to provide exceptional care for the people who are our patients locally and globally.
