Palliative Care at Mount Sinai Hospital

We support patients during periods of hospitalization.

Our Palliative Care physicians and nurse specialists provide compassionate support to patients with serious, life-limiting illness during their hospitalization.

We see patients at Mount Sinai who are being treated in different areas of the hospital, including Emergency, Surgery, General Medicine, Cardiology and the Intensive Care Unit.

If you are hospitalized because of a newly diagnosed or worsening illness, we can introduce you to the physical, emotional and spiritual support that palliative care offers.

What to expect

If you would like to meet with a member of our team, we will visit you at your bedside to get to know you and find out what your current needs are.

During your time at Mount Sinai, we work together with the rest of your care team to help support you in the following ways:

  • Providing pain and symptom management
  • Helping you and your family understand your treatment options
  • Supporting your treatment choices and communicating those to other members of your care team
  • Helping you understand what to expect as your illness progresses
  • Connecting you with other support resources at home or in the community

Our goal is to support you during your stay and to make sure you continue to feel supported after you leave the hospital.
