General Respirology Clinic

We provide care for patients with breathing problems.

Our respirologists provide care for patients with breathing problems.

You may be referred to a respirologist if you have symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, or frequent coughing or wheezing.

We diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Asthma
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Interstitial lung disease (ILD)
  • Sarcoidosis

What to expect

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of your first appointment to check in.

At your first appointment, a respirologist will talk to you about your medical history and symptoms. The respirologist will then work with you to decide on a care plan that is specific to your needs.

We may recommend tests at our Pulmonary Function Lab to help diagnose and monitor your condition.

We may also recommend any of the following treatments:

  • Medication, including inhalers
  • Smoking cessation
  • Self-management strategies, which are exercises that can help improve your breathing
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation, which is a supervised exercise and educational program for patients with certain lung diseases to improve quality of life

Some care plans require appointments with other health-care providers, such as a respiratory therapist. A respiratory therapist can help you manage the symptoms of your respiratory condition and stop smoking.
