Kristen Shewen, RN, BScN, started her nursing career in 1992 at Mount Sinai after graduating Ryerson University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She started on the orthopedic and thoracic floor for a year and then worked ER until 2005. During those ER years she also worked a year in the  recovery room and as a casual RN at St Mikes Hospital ER for a short period of time. 

She completed many courses and certificates in emergency nursing, including getting her certificate in the Emergency Nursing Program at Humber College, Trauma Nursing Certificate, Emergency Nursing Certificate, and Pediatric Nursing Certificate. Awards include the Pacemaker Award and Preceptor Award while in ER. 

In 2005 she joined downtown Family Practice site, at first working part-time as the Clinic RN and subsequently creating the new role of Maternity Care RN in Family Practice. She joined the Sherman Health and Wellness team in Vaughan 2013 as the first RN at the new site. 

Kristen has a particular interest in woman’s health and prevention of illness with immunization and health education for patients and families. She has a passion for the connection she gets from the patient interaction either in person or on the phone.
