Masking update: As of October 16, 2024, masks are required in patient care areas, patient rooms and waiting rooms.

Observerships

We support requests for observerships for the purpose of learning and sharing.

Observerships provide opportunities for learners to shadow a clinician and gain valuable knowledge about practicing in a given area of care.

At Sinai Health, we welcome observers from across Canada and around the world. Observerships may be open to medical students or practicing health-care providers who would like to learn more about an area of specialization.

Observers can expect to:

  • Observe clinical interactions and procedures
  • Participate in educational opportunities such as teaching rounds
  • Participate in an exchange of knowledge

Please note that observers are not permitted to participate in direct patient care or to scrub in during surgeries.

How to apply for an observership

Prospective observers first need a Sinai Health employee or physician to sponsor their application process.

The Sinai Health sponsor should then apply directly to the departmental office of their specialized area of care. We do not accept applications from the prospective observers themselves.
