Sinai Health’s Chair of the Board of Directors, Brent Belzberg and Past Chair, Jay Hennick appointed to the Order of Canada

Congratulations to Brent Belzberg and Jay Hennick, members of Sinai Health System’s Board of Directors on their recent appointments as a Member of the Order of Canada. 

As the country’s highest honour for lifetime achievement, the Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to community and service to the nation by those who have enriched the lives of others and made a difference to our country.

 “This is a proud moment for Sinai Health and we thank Brent and Jay for their outstanding contributions over the years,” says Dr. Gary Newton, President and CEO of Sinai Health System. “Their passion and dedication to advancing health care continues to inspire us. This well-deserved honour recognizes Brent and Jay’s achievements, and includes them amongst other Canadian trailblazers who are making a difference for our country.” 

Brent Belzberg is Sinai Health’s Chair of the Board of Directors and has been an active member of the hospital and foundation boards since 2001. He is the founder and Senior Managing Partner of TorQuest Partners, one of Canada’s leading mid-market private equity firms. 

Brent was recognized for his contributions to Canada’s economic and social landscape as a business leader and philanthropist. 

Jay Hennick is the former Chair of Sinai Health System’s the Board of Directors and former Chair of Mount Sinai Hospital. Jay is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Colliers International Group Inc., one of the world’s largest and fastest growing commercial real estate service firms. 

He and his wife established The Jay and Barbara Hennick Foundation which contributes to many charitable causes in health care and education, including The Hennick Family Wellness Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital, The Hennick Centre of Business and Law, a joint program of Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business and The Jay Hennick JD – MBA Program at the University of Ottawa. Jay was recognized for his leadership in Canadian business and his dedicated support for health and educational initiatives.
