Every day, our people at Sinai Health demonstrate and celebrate our Values of Service, Humanity, Inclusivity and Discovery. These Values build on our Purpose of caring, creating possibilities and offering hope to patients, their families and the community.

Meet Joseph Leung, eLearning Producer in the Nursing Education department. Joseph is living Sinai Health’s Values of Service and Discovery.

Earlier this year, Joseph was honoured with the Provincial Donation Champion Award presented by the Ontario Health Trillium Gift of Life Network (TLGN). The TLGN, which delivers organ and tissue donation and transplantation services to Ontarians, recognizes health-care professionals and other partners who are exceptional advocates for organ and tissue donation.

Joseph is responsible for delivering the latest online training programs to employees, physicians, scientists, learners and volunteers through Sinai Health’s learning management system.

As part of Joseph’s commitment to education and safety, he consistently reaches out to the TLGN to inquire about updates prior to their annual release of courses. In doing so, he is able to make any improvements necessary and test the modules thoroughly to ensure the effective delivery of the training.

When the TLGN’s latest courses were under development, Joseph tested the courses based on his experience as an eLearning producer to ensure quality assurance before they were released broadly across the province of Ontario. “Performing this additional step in the evaluation process contributes to an improved user experience for health-care professionals,” said Joseph. “When a module delivers training to health-care workers on opportunities to provide life-saving measures, quality assurance is key to achieve positive patient outcomes.”

When some users at Sinai Health were unable to access the courses, Joseph diligently worked with the TLGN to find a solution. Joseph also helped another hospital troubleshoot an issue when they had difficulty loading a course into their eLearning system. This act of service showcases Joseph’s commitment to supporting not only the people at our hospitals, but our partners and community.

Life-saving and life-enhancing organ and tissue donations and transplants are made possible with the support of health-care professionals like Joseph who dedicate themselves to improving the delivery of patient care. Joseph creates an environment committed to high standards of professional, clinical and personal responsibility, and his actions encourage and support new ideas and creative ways of doing our work, exemplifying of our Values of Service and Discovery.
