Cardiology Clinics

We see patients with a range of heart conditions and symptoms of heart disease.

What we do

Our cardiologists assess, diagnose and manage heart conditions and symptoms of heart disease, including:

  • High blood pressure
  • Angina
  • Coronary artery disease
  • Heart rhythm disorders (Arrhythmias)
  • Heart valve disease
  • Cardiomyopathy (disease of the heart muscle)
  • Pericarditis (inflammation of the sac that surrounds the heart) and pericardial effusion (excess fluid buildup in the pericardial sac)
  • Cardiac complications associated with other systemic diseases, such as diabetes or autoimmune disorders
  • Heart disease in pregnancy
  • Congenital heart defects
  • Heart failure

Our approach involves a thorough evaluation with personalized treatment plans and ongoing care.

For more information on the different types of heart disease, visit the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

What to expect

Your visit to the clinic will include diagnostic testing as well as a consultation with a cardiologist.

Before meeting with the cardiologist, all patients will undergo an electrocardiogram (ECG). If you are having an ECG or other testing before your appointment, please check in at the ECG and Echo reception desk on the 16th floor.

Depending on your needs, your physician may also recommend additional tests such as an echocardiogram. If other tests are needed, we will let you know ahead of time.

During your appointment, the cardiologist will review your medical history and talk to you about options for managing your heart condition.

Please note we are a teaching hospital, so you may see medical students, residents or fellows as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of our dedicated health-care team who work together to provide you with comprehensive care.

What to bring

  • Health (OHIP) card or valid health care coverage
  • Any imaging results from previous tests
  • A list of your current medications
  • A list of your current physicians
  • A support person, if desired
