You may be referred to a neuro-ophthalmologist if you have symptoms that suggest a neurological problem, including:
- Double vision
- Headaches with vision loss
- Eye lid problems
- Uneven pupils
- Eye pain
- Other vision symptoms that are not caused by a problem with the eye

Neuro-ophthalmologic issues can have many different causes, including:
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Autoimmune diseases, such as myasthenia gravis, lupus and multiple sclerosis
- Migraines
- Infections
- Strokes
- Optic nerve disorders
- Strabismus
At your first appointment, our neuro-ophthalmology team will ask about your medical history and symptoms. We will perform both an eye examination and a neurological examination. We may also recommend tests to help diagnose or better understand your condition.
