Orthopaedic Sports Medicine

We specialize in diagnosing, treating and preventing injuries caused by physical exercise.

What we do

The Dovigi Orthopaedics Sports Medicine Clinic team specializes in the treatment of soft-tissue trauma and sports-related injuries, including specialized care for complex problems.

We treat a wide range of surgical and non-surgical musculoskeletal conditions, including the following:

  • ACL reconstruction
  • Knee arthroscopy
  • Ankle arthroscopy
  • Achilles and lateral ankle ligament reconstruction
  • Shoulder arthroscopy
  • Upper extremity pathology
  • General orthopaedics

Our surgeons have treated amateur, Olympic, and professional athletes including members of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and Raptors.

What to expect

At your first consultation, you will meet with an orthopaedic surgeon to review your injury. We may recommend additional medical imaging, such as X-rays or a computed tomography (CT) scan, to give us more information about your injury.

We will then work with you to decide on a care plan that is specific to your needs and whether surgery should be part of it.

Please note we are a teaching hospital, so you may see medical students, residents or other medical trainees as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of our dedicated care team who work together to provide you with comprehensive care.

What to bring

  • Health (OHIP) card or valid health-care coverage
  • A list of your current medications
  • A list of your current physicians
  • Any recent imaging test results you have received
  • A list of questions you want to ask
