What we do

The Otolaryngology Clinic is an outpatient clinic dedicated to diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders of the ears, nose and throat.

As part of the Chris Hugh Sharp Cancer Centre, we specialize in treating cancers of the head and neck, including those affecting the mouth, throat, nose, sinuses, skull base and thyroid.

In addition to providing cancer care, we also treat patients with a wide range of other conditions, including hearing loss, balance disorders, complex sinus disorders, thyroid nodules and voice and laryngeal disorders.

What to expect

Before your appointment with an otolaryngologist, you may need to get a hearing or vestibular test at Hearing Life. We book the appointments on the same day whenever possible.

During your appointment, the otolaryngologist will review the results of your tests, go over your medical history and explain your diagnosis.

The otolaryngologist will work with you to design a treatment plan. You will be able to ask questions about your condition and the recommended treatment.

Some minor procedures such as biopsies and ultrasounds are done in our clinic on the same day as your appointment.

If you are booked for an in-clinic procedure, we will give you preparation instructions over the phone. It is important to follow the instructions given to you.

If surgery is needed, we will book you for a pre-admission appointment where you learn more about what to expect during and after the surgery.

Please note we are a teaching hospital, so you may see medical students, residents or fellows as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of our dedicated health-care team who work together to provide you with comprehensive care.
