Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery menu

The Department of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital is home to a team of surgeons, nurses, technicians and learners who provide comprehensive care for head and neck disease.

Each year, nearly 20,000 people seek care from our otolaryngologists, also known as ENT physicians, specializing in ear, nose, and throat conditions. Our expert team treats a full range of disorders, covering areas such as hearing, vertigo, balance, nose, sinus, mouth, throat, voice, thyroid, parathyroid and salivary gland disorders.

We specialize in the surgical management of head and neck cancer affecting the mouth, throat, voice, thyroid, nose and sinuses, and cancers of the base (bottom) of the skull.

Our approach includes pioneering minimally-invasive surgeries using endoscopes, robots and image-guided technology alongside reconstructive surgery and expert follow-up care during recovery. We also provide specialty services for patients with rare and difficult-to-diagnose nasal/sinus diseases, masses in the head and neck, ear/otology disorders, mouth disease and voice disorders.

To deliver comprehensive care for head and neck diseases, our Otolaryngology team collaborates with radiation and medical oncologists, as well as specialists in dentistry, endocrinology, ophthalmology and neurosurgery.

As a fully affiliated partner with the University of Toronto, Mount Sinai’s Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is widely recognized as a leader in education, research and patient care on both national and international levels.

Ian Witterick
I like using another part of my brain to think critically. How can I improve things? Whenever I am making a decision, the first thing I think about is how will this impact patients?
