Rheumatology

We care for patients with arthritis and life-threatening forms of rheumatic and autoimmune diseases.

The Rebecca MacDonald Centre for Arthritis and Autoimmune Disease at Mount Sinai Hospital integrates clinical care, research and education for rheumatic and autoimmune diseases.

Our rheumatology program is one of the largest of its kind in North America, and our experts play an active role in training physicians from around the world.

Each year we provide care to more than 15,000 patients. We treat patients dealing with any of the 115 forms of arthritis and those facing the most severe and potentially life-threatening forms of rheumatic and autoimmune diseases.

Our centre is home to one of the largest rheumatology clinical trial centres. We bring together world-class expertise in genetics, epidemiology and rheumatology. Many of our studies test innovative therapies for the first time in Canada, giving patients more treatment options.

As a fully affiliated partner with the University of Toronto, our clinics play a vital role as teaching resources for medical students, internal medicine residents and rheumatology fellows.
