On Thursday, April 19, clinicians, patients and members of our philanthropic community gathered to celebrate a landmark $11 million gift from philanthropist Miles Nadal to name Mount Sinai Hospital’s specialized cardiology program.

The Miles Nadal Heart Centre is a destination cardiology centre in the Greater Toronto Area that brings together the hospital’s expertise and specialties in distinct patient populations, such as women with heart disease who are pregnant or wishing to become pregnant; care for advanced-stage heart failure patients and treatment for patients with sleep apnea and breathlessness. The funds will help the centre gain increased prominence and resources.

“As a cardiologist who spent over twenty years caring for our cardiology patients, I am very pleased to express our gratitude on behalf of our patients and staff for this very generous gift,” said Dr. Gary Newton, President and CEO of Sinai Health System.

Miles Nadal has had a long history with Mount Sinai Hospital and has always inspired and motivated others to give. More than two decades ago, he established Leadership Sinai, a young professionals group that raises money for Sinai Health.  He also founded Sinai Health Foundation’s longest running event the Mount Sinai Golf Classic now in its 24th year. Combined, these initiatives have raised over $20 million.
